Fine Art Exhibitions and Events that I am  involved with

These range from running an art stall at a local country fayre, to gallery exhibitions where my work is shown, from open art exhibitions, themed art exhibitions and regular art gallery space where my paintings are rotated.  The local events and exhibitions are in and around Cardiff and the South Wales Valleys where I am based at my home studio in Nelson, Caerphilly.  They include Art Exhibitions, Artist in Residence days, Open Studio events, and the Annual Art Trail Week in the Valleys.  Other fine art events, nationally and internationally are also included where my work is shown.  As the virtual world is gaining solidity in our real world, on line events and places may also be included here.

  • I’m delighted that four of my microscope paintings were selected to be in the Winter Exhibition 2019 in the Gallery at Cynon Valley Museum, Aberdare, South Wales.

The exhibition ran from December 6th to 23rd, and feedback relayed to me from the general public was so uplifting, with a request to provide prints for sale of the original pieces.

    It is always a morale
  • Nelson Village, South Wales held their first Craft Market for local small businesses at the Community Centre

While I’m reluctant to start booking at fairs again, I decided I would attend and support this one in my home village for two reasons:

    1.  It is the first to establish local small businesses, and support means it has a better chance of being successful all round in

  • Trust is the Theme for the 2019 DAC Touring Art Exhibition
I’m thrilled that my painting “The Window” has been selected to go on tour alongside other artists work for the themed “Trust” Art Exhibition this year of DAC, Disability Arts Cymru

The painting I decided to submit, “The Window” just seemed to jump out to be put forward because of the difficult times we have had

  • My painting “I Am Woman” is in the Disability Arts Cymru Annual Touring Exhibition, and I am delighted it has been selected to tour around Wales with 25 art works by other artists.

The theme this year is “On The Edge”, and I chose my subject based on the fight for equality of women, and how even though it is 100 years since we were allowed to vote, we are still on the edge in many areas of the modern political and economic world. It is a statement and a

  • The “Invisible World” Art Exhibition is a joint collaboration between myself as painter and Susan Zeppellini as ceramicist, and is well underway.

Thank you to each and every one who came and supported our launch event. It was great! But it doesn’t stop there. The exhibition continues until 1st September 2018 at The Workers Gallery. Each Saturday from 11.30am to 2.30pm we are in residence at the gallery for open and informal

  • Following months of studying pond water, flora and fauna under the microscope, The Invisible World Art Exhibition is finally coming to fruition.

A collection of my paintings will be on show at The Workers Gallery, Ynyshir in the South Wales Valleys with ceramic sculptures by Susan Zeppellini. My paintings represent the cellular structures of living plants and the invisible world I discovered in my garden birdbath, and local streams and ponds.

The "Invisible World" Art Exhibition August 2018
An Exhibition of Paintings by Rosemarie O'Leary
    and Ceramics by Susan Zeppellini
9th August to 1st September 2018 at The Workers Gallery

  • A new art exhibition in the planning inspired by the beauty of microscopic life.

I am excited about preparing for an upcoming art exhibition this August 2018, at The Workers Art and Design Studio and Gallery, Ynyshir in the South Wales Valleys. I will be collaborating with ceramic artist, Susan Zeppellini on the theme of our natural world unseen. I’m delighted that Susan is as enthusiastic as I am about the beauty of nature

  • "Update - Open Studios and Art Week/Trail has been postponed and will possibly be scheduled beginning of December.  I'll post again about this when I know more."

  • Twitter Art Exhibition Stratford Upon Avon 2017

The Twitter Art Exhibition is in the UK this year, and launches in Stratord Upon Avon on 1st April.  This will be my fourth year donating a postcard size piece of original art for a charitable cause. All the causes have been great including this one, with the proceeds of sales going this year to Molly Olly's Wishes, a charity that helps children with

  • Artists Group Show at The Workers Gallery and Workshop, Ynyshir, South Wales 2017

The show of Gallery Artists work and their work in progress is already up and running at the Workers Gallery and Workshop. I love seeing what we are all up to and what different paths we have taken since the show last year. My own work is progressing as I discover more microscopic life forms. It's making me truly appreciate that there is so much more life that we can't see with the

  • Early 2017, I was invited to take part in the creation of four art installations across North Wales and was sent a box. With the box, we were asked to make something that represented the state or contents of our minds. Tim Lliffe is the lead artist, and in collaboration with MOMA, Machynlleth and Disability Arts Cymru, an arts council award was given to carry out the project which will hopefully involve 1000 creatives.

  • Alone In The Universe - Open Art Exhibition Winter 2016 At The Workers Gallery, Ynyshir

This is a themed group art exhibition held at the Workers Gallery and Workshops. It is based on a poem "Alone In The Universe" by Mike Church. The launch event was a huge success crossing the boundaries of several art forms from poetry and music to the visual creations inspired by Mike's poem.

  • Cynon Valley Museum was a casualty in the cuts to spending, but community people power put it back on the map. I'm so pleased because not only does it have a great little museum of local interest, it has a lovely gallery space.

  • Art Week is happening! 9th to 15th July 2016 with pop up exhibitions throughout Ystrad Mynach and beyond. Because Dai the Digger is still in our garden (he's been there so long he now has a name!) and building works are ongoing at home, I've not been able to take part in the Open Studio events during the week, but I am taking part in the pop up exhibitions. A call out to local businesses was made for exhibition space to create the trail.

  • Twitter Art Exhibition 2016 Charitable Art Donations For Great Causes

It's time to come out of my shell and reconnect with the world, and for once, the sun is shining! There comes a point when I get fed up of being poorly, and even though I still am, I can somehow handle it better when the sun shines.

It's rained almost every day since the middle of October and it is now past the middle of

  • The Caerphilly Creatives Art Week 2015 Was A Success

Press coverage was great and the trail stretched across the entire borough. Here, in Nelson, the people who visited were genuinely interested in coming to see the art on show and meet the artists. I thoroughly enjoyed answering questions about the process of my work.

I shared my home studio space with fellow artist and neighbour, Sandra

  • It’s been a real experience doing the craft fairs and country shows, but they are incredibly exhausting, even when sharing a pitch for support. All weather planning is a must, from polythene sheeting to cover your work in case it rains, to shading to protect it from the burning sunshine.

Planning the layout through a dummy run at home really helped, so I knew all the bits and pieces and tools I would need to take, from spare string and blue tac to a screw driver! My
